Core competence
What used to be shown on many individual sheets is now brought together in a three-dimensional image. In this way, the often complicated relationships in the earth sciences can be better understood.
Application-related research topics
The research focus is on mass movements in mountain ranges (Andes, Himalayas, Makran, Alps) and their tectonic effects. The surface changes are detected using remote sensing methods, while the endogenous interactions are recorded and quantified with the help of structural geological terrain work, dating and modeling. The 3D visualization combines this and provides a comprehensible picture.
Special equipment
3D visualization lab with a 3-sided CAVE and GIS infrastructure
Cooperation offers
- Scientific data visualization and geological GIS analysis and mapping,
- animation of geologic data and processes
